Bhopal, May 10: Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday criticised the Congress over its support to the TVK-led government in Tamil Nadu, saying the party is not hungry for people’s love and blessings but for power and position.
The Congress, which severed its ties with its old ally DMK to extend support to TVK, has announced that its alignment with the party, led by C Joseph Vijay, is for all future elections.
“This is the reality, and it has become well known… I have been saying this for six years; Congress is not hungry for the love and blessings of the people, but is hungry for power and position,” Scindia told PTI Videos at the airport heading for Guna, his Lok Sabha constituency.
The Congress has said that its alliance with TVK, which won 108 of 234 seats in the recent assembly polls, is founded on mutual respect and shared responsibility between the two parties.
Scindia said, “Wherever it gets power and position, the Congress will turn its back, and a very recent example of this is the decisions taken in the last few days, which have once again made the people aware of this.”
Asked about Kerala, where the party is yet to announce its chief ministerial face, Scindia said the Congress has lost the people’s trust from north to south and from east to west, and is now “slowly going to lose the trust of its workers as well”.
Scindia, who was earlier with the Congress, switched to the BJP along with many MLAs in 2020 in Madhya Pradesh. The move had led to the collapse of the Congress government, which had come to power after 15 years in MP. He subsequently became a Union minister.
