Leh, Jul 18: Chairman, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, was called on by representatives of Cipla Foundation led by Medical Superintendent of SNM Hospital, Rinchen Chosdol to discuss the enhancement of palliative care services at SNM Hospital, Leh.
The delegation included Anurag Mishra, Head of Cipla Foundation; Dr. Prakash Fernandes, Head of Palliative Partnerships, Cipla Foundation; Dr. Monisha Ahmad from Cipla; District Health Officer, Dr. Yangchan Dolma.
They held a discussion with the CEC regarding the ongoing palliative care support being extended by SNM Hospital to patients in need.
The delegation highlighted the need for a dedicated palliative care unit to provide more structured and comprehensive care, addressing not only the medical but also the psychological and emotional needs of seriously ill patients.
As part of the initiative, Cipla Foundation will begin by deputing one doctor and two nurses at SNM Hospital exclusively for palliative care. The aim is to establish a compassionate and accessible care setup for patients requiring long-term support.
CEC Tashi Gyalson appreciated Cipla Foundation’s commitment to improving healthcare in Ladakh and assured the delegation of LAHDC Leh’s full support in implementing the initiative.
An MoU will soon be signed between Cipla Foundation and LAHDC Leh to formalise the partnership, following which the dedicated palliative care unit will be made operational.
