Leh, Feb 07: The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, made a comprehensive visit to the different wings of the MIMC Devachan Campus. He was accompanied by Administrative Secretary Ms. Shashanka Ala.

On his arrival at the Mahabodhi Karuna Charitable Hospital, the Chief Secretary was warmly received by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena. He undertook a detailed tour of the hospital, visiting the various wards, laboratories, X-ray unit, ultrasound room, and dental section. He was briefed on the range of medical services and facilities being provided to the local population, and interacted with doctors, paramedical staff, and administrative personnel.

Following the hospital visit, the Chief Secretary made brief visits to the MIMC Global Family Home and the Mahabodhi Residential School, where he was apprised of the institution’s efforts in providing care, education, and support to children and students from remote and underprivileged backgrounds.

He then visited the Maitri Geriatric Home and interacted with the elderly residents, appreciating the compassionate care and dignified environment provided for senior citizens.

The visit also included a stop at the Buddha Park for World Peace, which houses statues of Anagarika Dharmapala, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and the Guru of Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Most Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita. The Chief Secretary was informed about the vision behind the park as a symbol of harmony, peace, and social transformation.

Later, he was escorted to the Mahabodhi Sambodhi Retreat Centre, where he toured the facility and its various sections and learned about the meditation and spiritual programs conducted for visitors and practitioners from across India and abroad.

The guests were subsequently hosted for lunch at the residence of Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, which also provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions on the ongoing humanitarian, educational, and spiritual initiatives of the campus. Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena informed the Chief Secretary about the upcoming International Festival of Yoga and Meditation scheduled to be held in June this year and sought the support and collaboration of the UT Administration for the successful organization of the event. The Chief Secretary responded positively and assured all possible assistance and cooperation.

A wide range of issues and future plans were discussed during the interaction, during which the Chief Secretary expressed appreciation for the extensive work being carried out at the MIMC Devachan Campus. He commended Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena for his years of dedicated service and for transforming what was once barren land into a vibrant centre of healthcare, education, social service, and spiritual development.

He reiterated the Administration’s commitment to supporting such initiatives that contribute to the welfare of society and the holistic development of the region.
