Hospital Infrastructure touches 80% completion

Kargil, Sept 18: To address the shortage of trained staff in times of emergency, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, directed the Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kargil to arrange rotational training programs for hospital staff.

The CEC on Thursday inspected the ongoing developmental works at District Hospital Kargil.

During the inspection, the site engineer informed the CEC that the MRI Room, with an estimated cost of ₹51 lakh, is nearly 80 percent complete.

During the recent visit of CEC Kargil to Leh he was informed by Principal Secretary Health that the MRI Machine is expected to reach Kargil around October 15, accordingly two staff members will undergo operational training.

Reviewing the progress of other works, the site engineer briefed the CEC that the Administrative Block, a G+2 structure constructed at a cost of ₹4.10 crore, has also reached 80 percent completion.

Regarding the Para-Medical Staff Quarters, a G+2 building being constructed at a cost of ₹6.5 crore, the CEC was informed that 65 percent of work has been completed. Similarly, the Class-IV Staff Quarters, costing around ₹7.1 crore, have achieved 75 percent completion.

The CEC directed the concerned officers to ensure that at least the ground floors of these buildings are made functional at the earliest.

Furthermore, the CEC instructed the Medical Superintendent to write to the Deputy Commissioner’s office requesting the constitution of a committee for the write-off of unserviceable items and to initiate the auction of unserviceable vehicles of the hospital.

Dr Mohd. Jaffer emphasized the timely completion of all ongoing works to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure better medical facilities for the people of Kargil.
