Nagrota, Nov 07: Intensifying the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) outreach ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana on Thursday conducted a door-to-door campaign across Panchayat Kattal Batal, Nagrota, and Shiva Panchayat in support of BJP candidate Devyani Rana.
During his interaction with residents, Khatana highlighted the development works undertaken in Jammu & Kashmir under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, asserting that the BJP had “delivered on the ground what others merely promised.” He said the last decade had transformed rural infrastructure, expanded access to education and healthcare, and improved electricity and water supply in remote areas.
“The BJP government has worked tirelessly for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Roads now connect villages once cut off, youth are gaining livelihoods through skill and employment programs, and every section—farmers, women, and the underprivileged—has felt the benefits of inclusive governance,” Khatana said while addressing locals.
Criticizing the opposition, Khatana accused the National Conference (NC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Congress of pursuing dynastic politics instead of people’s welfare. “For seventy years, they ruled Jammu & Kashmir but failed to bring any real change. Their politics revolved around families and power,” he remarked.
Appealing to voters to back Devyani Rana, Khatana said a BJP government in the Union Territory would ensure “progress, peace, and prosperity” for Nagrota. He called upon the electorate to “vote for continuity of development and a stable administration dedicated to people’s welfare.” Local BJP functionaries and workers, including Ram Lal Sharma (General Secretary, BJP Block Nagrota), Sanjay Sharma (Mandal Pardhan), Sanju (Naib Sarpanch, Nagrota), Mohan Rana (Vice President, Mandal Nagrota), and Vandna Sharma (President, Mahila Morcha), accompanied Khatana during the campaign.
