SRINAGAR, JAN 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Budgam district conducted two swift operations on Saturday, recovering approximately 4 kilograms of charas and arresting three drug peddlers in Magam and Hardpanzoo areas.
In the first incident at Batpora Crossing, Magam police patrol intercepted Rouf Ahmed Hajam from Kanihama, who attempted to flee while carrying a suspicious nylon bag. A search yielded 2.1 kg of suspected charas, leading to FIR No. 05/2026 under NDPS Act at Police Station Magam.
Simultaneously, Hardpanzoo police at a Bonizanigam checkpoint nabbed Irfan Ahmad Mir and Owais Ahmad Bhat from Hardulatina village after they tried escaping with another nylon bag containing 2.185 kg of the contraband. An FIR was registered at Beerwah Police Station.
Both cases highlight intensified anti-drug efforts ahead of Republic Day, with investigations underway to dismantle local supply networks.
