Jammu, Aug 15: The Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir was plunged into grief today after a cloudburst claimed multiple lives, left scores injured, and caused widespread destruction to homes and livelihoods. The sudden calamity has left survivors in distress and communities grappling with the scale of loss.

The Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) extended deep condolences to the bereaved families. Dr. Vivek Sharma, President of BTSM for Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, described the incident as a cruel act of nature that has shaken the hearts of many. He expressed solidarity with the victims and prayed for the peace of those who perished, as well as strength for their grieving families. He also wished a swift recovery for the injured.

Dr. Sharma appealed to citizens, social groups, volunteers, and administrative bodies to join forces in relief and rescue operations. Emphasizing the need for immediate assistance, he urged people to contribute food, medical supplies, and other essential aid to support those affected.

District in-charge Dr. Charanjeet Singh issued a special call to the youth of Kishtwar to step forward with relief materials and extend direct help to the victims. He noted that such tragedies remind society of the importance of compassion and mutual support in the face of adversity.

BTSM’s Kishtwar president Omkar Singh Rana, along with other district members, encouraged residents to fully cooperate with the authorities during rescue operations. The organisation has pledged continued assistance until affected families can rebuild their lives.

Rescue teams and local volunteers are currently engaged in clearing debris, tending to the injured, and restoring basic services in the worst-hit areas, as the community rallies to emerge from the disaster’s shadow.
