New Delhi, Sept 18: Marking 25 years of dedicated service, compassion, and solidarity, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) celebrated the Silver Jubilee of the Border Roads Organisation Wives Welfare Association (BROWWA) in a grand event held in Delhi.
The occasion brought together BRO families, veterans, and dignitaries in a spirit of pride and togetherness. Adding a special emotional touch to the celebration was the presence of acclaimed Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur, daughter of the BRO fraternity. Her father, Late Major Bhupinder Singh, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous), laid down his life in the line of duty while serving with BRO.
In a heartfelt session, Nimrat Kaur reflected on her journey as a “fauji kid,” recalling how the values of discipline, sacrifice, and resilience that she imbibed growing up in an Army household continue to guide her professional life. “The ethos of the Army and the spirit of service remain my biggest sources of strength, and being here today among the BRO family feels like coming home,” she said.
The Silver Jubilee event also featured a vibrant cultural programme, with performances celebrating India’s unity in diversity, highlighting the cultural mosaic that BRO represents through its service across the length and breadth of the nation.
Director General Border Roads, Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, PVSM, VSM, along with Mrs. Sumita Raghu, President BROWWA, felicitated the distinguished guests and extended gratitude to the BRO families. In his address, the DGBR hailed the role of BROWWA, calling it “the invisible strength behind our bravehearts, who tirelessly support the Force’s mission of nation-building in the most challenging terrains.”
Since its inception in 2000, BROWWA has been instrumental in welfare initiatives for families of BRO personnel, focusing on education, health, vocational training, and community support. Over the past 25 years, it has emerged as a strong pillar of compassion and care, complementing BRO’s motto—Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam (Everything is Achievable Through Hard Work).
