New Delhi, Jan 13: Amid rising concerns over gig worker safety, Blinkit has removed its prominent “10-minute delivery” promise from branding following directives from Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Platforms like Zepto, Swiggy, and Zomato are expected to follow suit after recent government meetings addressing delivery timeline pressures.
The move responds to complaints that strict deadlines push riders to take dangerous risks on roads, highlighted during a nationwide gig worker strike on December 31, 2025. Blinkit updated its tagline from “10,000+ products delivered in 10 minutes” to “30,000+ products delivered at your doorstep,” prioritizing safer working conditions.
Mandaviya emphasized eliminating rigid time commitments to enhance security and reduce stress on delivery personnel. The intervention follows parliamentary debates, including AAP MP Raghav Chadha’s concerns about the human cost of ultra-fast deliveries. While quick commerce firms maintain dense store networks enable fast service, the shift signals broader reforms in India’s booming gig economy.
