JAMMU, JUN 4: The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Thursday staged a protest in Jammu against the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) government, alleging failure to fulfil its promise of providing one lakh jobs to educated youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
Led by BJYM president Arun Prabhat, party workers gathered at Kachi Chawani, raised slogans against the government, and burnt an effigy of the chief minister.
Addressing reporters, Prabhat said the NC had committed in its 2024 election manifesto to create one lakh jobs and expand employment opportunities, but had failed to act on its promises. He alleged that instead of filling vacancies, the government had moved to surrender long-pending posts.
Referring to a recent government order, he claimed that posts lying vacant for years were being surrendered and would not be revived, calling it a “setback to the employment aspirations of youth.”
Prabhat also accused the administration of enforcing austerity measures on recruitment while increasing its own expenditure on protocol and official arrangements.
He said the youth wing would continue its agitation until the decision was rolled back and adequate employment opportunities were ensured for unemployed youth in the Union Territory.
