MUMBAI, Mar 26: Filmmakers Bhushan Kumar and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri on Thursday unveiled their new project “Operation Sindoor”, a film inspired by the codename of India’s targeted military strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir, launched in response to the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
The film is based on the book “Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan” by Lt Gen K.J.S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd). Agnihotri will direct the project, produced jointly by Kumar’s T‑Series and Agnihotri’s I Am Budha Productions.
The makers described “Operation Sindoor” as a cinematic portrayal of a defining moment in India’s history, highlighting strategic resolve, courage, and precision in modern warfare. The film is rooted in the tragic Pahalgam attack, in which 26 people—mostly tourists—were killed, and aims to document the events with honesty and responsibility.
“This is not just a film. It is a revelation,” Kumar said, emphasising the need to preserve such moments in national memory. Agnihotri added that the project is not about revenge alone, but about showcasing India’s military capability and the complex realities behind the operation, built on extensive ground‑level research with the Indian Armed Forces.
Known for politically charged, fact‑based films such as The Kashmir Files, The Tashkent Files and The Bengal Files, Agnihotri said he is drawn to stories that are uncomfortable but essential, and aims to present “Operation Sindoor” as both an authentic and gripping cinematic experience. Further details about the film will be announced in the coming days.
