Bandipora, March 7: Authorities halted all vehicular traffic on the Bandipora-Gurez road Saturday after fresh snow blanketed the high-altitude Razdan Top, turning it treacherous.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmad, confirmed the suspension will hold until further notice. “Snowfall has made Razdan Pass slippery—purely a safety call,” he said.
At over 11,000 feet, the pass is the lifeline linking remote Gurez Valley to Bandipora and beyond. Low visibility and icy roads forced the closure to prevent accidents, a common winter headache here.
Officials are watching the weather closely, ready to clear and reopen once conditions ease.
