New Delhi, October 1: Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were increased by around Rs 16 per litre from Thursday, while the price of commercial LPG was raised by Rs 62.50 per 19-kg cylinder, according to state-owned oil marketing companies.
ATF prices for domestic airlines have been raised from Rs 121 per litre to Rs 137 per litre.
The latest hike follows two consecutive increases in ATF prices. Rates were raised by Rs 6.28 per litre, or 5.46 per cent, in September, after an earlier Rs 5 per litre increase in August.
ATF is one of the largest operating expenses for airlines and can account for up to 40 per cent of their operating costs. Any significant increase in fuel prices can therefore add to the cost pressures faced by airlines.
Meanwhile, commercial LPG prices have also been increased by Rs 62.50 per 19-kg cylinder, in line with changes in international fuel benchmarks.
