Ramban, Feb 8: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kuldeep Singh has suspended ten driving licences for three months due to serious breaches of the Motor Vehicles Act by the holders.
The disqualifications, enacted under Section 19 of the 1988 Act and Rule 21 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1991, followed enforcement inputs from the Motor Vehicles Department, Police, and Traffic Police. Offences included driving uninsured vehicles, helmet violations, operating defective vehicles endangering public safety, permit breaches, unauthorized modifications, missing Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC), and bovine smuggling involvement.
Show-cause notices were served, but most holders failed to respond adequately within deadlines, prompting the action.
