JAMMU, JAN 31: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander of Northern Command, today chaired a high‑level joint security review meeting at Nagrota to assess the evolving security situation in the Jammu region and to fine‑tune operational coordination among various agencies. Senior officers from the Indian Army, along with key representatives from paramilitary forces, police and other security organisations, participated in the deliberations.
The meeting was convened against the backdrop of ongoing counter‑insurgency and counter‑terrorism operations in the Union Territory. During the review, detailed discussions were held on maintaining close coordination in ongoing operations, improving joint preparedness and further strengthening the counter‑terrorism grid across the region. Emphasis was placed on ensuring seamless synergy among all security agencies to effectively address emerging and hybrid security challenges.
The Army Commander underlined the need to maintain a high level of alertness at all times, with particular focus on border‑adjacent areas and vulnerable urban‑rural pockets. He also highlighted the importance of optimising the deployment and effective use of available resources, including technology, surveillance assets and quick‑reaction teams, to enhance response capabilities.
Lieutenant General Sharma stressed the critical role of real‑time intelligence sharing, sustained vigilance and coordinated action in preventing infiltration, terror strikes and other security‑related incidents. He urged all agencies to continue working in a unified framework, with regular joint drills, information exchange and situation‑based planning to keep pace with the dynamic threat environment.
The review meeting reaffirmed the collective resolve of the security forces to remain proactive, vigilant and fully prepared to safeguard the region against all security threats. Officials said the outcome of the deliberations would be translated into concrete operational measures to further consolidate the security architecture in Jammu and adjoining areas.
