Leh: Reinforcing its commitment to community welfare and nation building in the remote border areas of Ladakh, the Indian Army organised a comprehensive medical camp at Koksho village in Leh district under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavana.
The outreach initiative brought much-needed healthcare services to residents of the far-flung village, many of whom face limited access to regular medical facilities due to challenging terrain and harsh climatic conditions.
The medical camp witnessed active participation from villagers of all age groups. A team of Army medical officers and paramedical staff conducted general health check-ups, screened patients for common ailments and provided specialised consultations. Services included diagnosis and treatment for respiratory and cold-related illnesses, blood pressure and diabetes screening, eye and dental check-ups, distribution of essential medicines, and health counselling.
Given the prolonged winters and high-altitude living conditions of the region, many residents are vulnerable to chronic respiratory problems, joint pains and other cold-induced ailments. The camp addressed these concerns by offering targeted medical advice and preventive care, thereby helping improve overall community health and awareness.
Such initiatives are aimed at bridging the healthcare gap in isolated villages and ensuring that people living in border areas receive timely and quality medical attention. “Operation Sadbhavana reflects our commitment to stand with border communities not only in safeguarding the nation but also in supporting their well-being and development,” an official stated.
Villagers of Koksho expressed deep appreciation for the Army’s humanitarian gesture. Community elders and beneficiaries said that the medical camp brought relief to many families who otherwise have to travel long distances to access basic healthcare. They described the initiative as a vital support system, especially for the elderly, women and children.
