ANANTNAG, May 8 : In one of the biggest actions against narcotics networks in Jammu and Kashmir, Anantnag Police on Thursday attached and seized properties worth approximately ₹6.5 crore in Sangam area under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Police said the action was taken against Bashir Ahmad Mir, son of Gul Mohammad Mir, and his family members, residents of Doonipora Sangam, following an enquiry conducted under Chapter VA of the NDPS Act.
Officials said the investigation revealed that the family had allegedly accumulated substantial movable and immovable assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. It further indicated that the properties were jointly held and suspected to have been acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade.
Police also cited multiple drug-related cases linked to the family, including FIR No. 213/2024 at Police Station Bijbehara involving recovery of 58.90 kg of poppy straw, FIR No. 191/2020 involving 500 grams of charas, and FIR No. 232/2011 involving 1.100 kg of charas.
The attached properties include double-storey residential houses at Doonipora Sangam, a newly constructed house, the commercial building “Muskan Restaurant,” around 211 marlas of land in Sangam and Naina areas, and a Hyundai Creta vehicle.
Police said the total market value of the seized assets is estimated at around ₹6.5 crore. They added that the action reflects their commitment to dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers and continuing the anti-narcotics drive in the region.
