Amritsar, Oct 4: Social media influencer Mad Sandhu was shot dead in Amritsar on Saturday evening after two unidentified motorcycle-borne attackers allegedly opened fire at him on Loharka Road, police said.
The incident took place around 6 pm, when the assailants reportedly fired four rounds at Sandhu in a public area before fleeing the spot. He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital, but reportedly died while being taken for treatment.
Goldy Dhillon Claims Responsibility In Social Media Post
A social media post allegedly claiming responsibility for Sandhu’s killing has surfaced, with Goldy Dhillon reportedly stating that he and Jagga Tarn Taran were responsible for the murder.
The post also reportedly contained threats against people allegedly promoting the accused on social media and warned schools against inviting them as chief guests. Police are expected to verify the authenticity of the post and establish whether the claims are genuine.
A video purportedly showing the aftermath of the shooting has also surfaced online. It reportedly shows Sandhu lying injured on the road while his companions attempt to help him. Empty bullet shells can also be seen near the scene.
Police reached the spot shortly after receiving information about the incident. DCP Prabhjot Singh said two empty shells had been recovered from the scene and a team had been formed to investigate the killing.
Posted Last Reel Hours Before Shooting
Sandhu had uploaded what appears to be his final Instagram reel at around 5 pm, approximately an hour before the shooting.
In the reel, he appeared to speak about getting married and referred to dealing with a “badmash” or troublesome person.
Around three months before his death, Sandhu had reportedly been involved in a controversy with Nihang jathedar Manpreet Singh Khalsa over his social media content, clothing and some of his older videos.
During the dispute, objections were reportedly raised over content that the Nihang group said could negatively influence Punjab’s culture and youth. Sandhu later said he had made changes in his life and had stopped repeating past mistakes. He also alleged that old videos were being circulated again to revive the controversy.
Sandhu had earlier been involved in another social media dispute involving Punjabi singer KS Makhan. The disagreement reportedly followed comments made by the singer during a live show and podcast, after which the matter escalated on social media.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish the sequence of events, identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the killing.
