New Delhi, Jun 3: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting in the national capital on June 8 to assess preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting is expected to be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, intelligence agencies, the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and top officials of the Jammu and Kashmir administration.
During the review, Shah will assess the preparedness of security and civil agencies involved in the annual pilgrimage, with a focus on ensuring its smooth, safe, and successful conduct.
Key discussions are likely to include deployment of security forces along the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, counter-terrorism measures, protection of pilgrim convoys, emergency response systems, healthcare facilities, communication networks, and overall logistical arrangements.
Officials will also brief the Home Minister on the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of pilgrims throughout the Yatra period.
Special emphasis is expected on inter-agency intelligence coordination, surveillance along the pilgrimage routes, and contingency planning to address any potential security threats or emergencies.
