BIKANER, May 26 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday lauded the Border Security Force for its role in Operation Sindoor, saying the force not only secured the frontier but also boosted public morale in border districts.
Speaking at the Sanchu outpost in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, Shah paid tribute to more than 2,000 BSF personnel who have laid down their lives since the force was raised and praised jawans for serving in extreme conditions—from deserts and dense forests to snowbound regions—demonstrating courage, discipline and sacrifice.
Shah inaugurated women’s barracks at the outpost, noting women personnel have exceeded expectations in border duties. He said infrastructure for women is being expanded and border-post facilities will be strengthened by 2030.
Highlighting improvements in Rajasthan’s border infrastructure, Shah referred to road construction, new fencing designs and water pipeline connectivity to 180 posts. He also noted the Centre has extended BSF’s jurisdiction to 50 km from the International Border to address threats such as infiltration, smuggling and drone-assisted narcotics trafficking.
Urging greater coordination among state police and administrations, Shah warned against demographic changes from cross-border infiltration and called for vigilant monitoring of villages near the border.
