All Religious Women Wing backs Apex-KDA, urges unity and de-politicisation of religion

Leh: Members and representatives of the All Religious Women Wing gathered at Eco Park on Monday, reaffirming their support to the Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and calling for sustained unity until their ongoing constitutional movement achieves its objectives.

Addressing the media, the women leaders said they had assembled to send a clear message that they stand firmly with the Apex leadership and will continue their support “till the mission is accomplished.” The event highlighted the group’s commitment to maintaining religious harmony while backing the broader constitutional demands being pursued in Ladakh.

The speakers also expressed gratitude to Apex Co-chairman Chering Dorjey Lakruk, who is associated with the Ladakh Buddhist Association, for his leadership during periods of social and political unrest in the region. They described his role as steadfast, stating that he stood “like a rock” for the people during challenging times.

Clarifying their stance, the representatives emphasised that the movement is not centred around any individual but is part of a larger struggle for constitutional rights, which the Apex leadership is representing. They reiterated that their support extends to the cause as a whole.

In a strong appeal to the public, the group cautioned against attempts to portray religions as being under threat. They asserted that religion, by its very nature, holds a higher moral and spiritual position and cannot be endangered, suggesting that such narratives stem from insecurity rather than reality.

The speakers urged people to keep religion separate from politics, warning that mixing the two could harm social harmony. “Religion should guide our way of life and remain above political interests,” they said, adding that history has shown negative consequences when religion is drawn into political discourse.

Calling for mutual respect and communal harmony, the All Religious Women Wing appealed to citizens to uphold the dignity of religion and avoid using it as a tool in political debates, stressing that unity and a positive social environment depend on keeping faith above divisive narratives.
