Kargil, Jan 2: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, chaired a review meeting today with officers from various district departments and the police to assess and finalize arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
During the meeting, the ADC conducted a comprehensive review of the preparations and assigned specific responsibilities to different departments to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the national event. Detailed discussions were held on security, traffic management, illumination of government buildings, water supply, cultural programmes, and crowd management.
Departments including Public Works (PWD), Power Development, Tourism, Youth Services & Sports, Motor Garages, and Police were entrusted with essential tasks covering logistics, safety, and ceremonial arrangements. Issues raised by several departments—such as lighting and infrastructure facilities—were duly noted, and necessary instructions were issued to address them promptly.
The ADC appointed nodal officers to oversee coordination and execution of duties. It was informed that rehearsals for the Republic Day celebrations will commence on January 20, with a full-dress rehearsal scheduled for January 24. The Information Department will manage the public address system and media coverage.
The cultural segment of the Republic Day function will feature three performances by artists from the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, along with student programmes organized by the School Education Department. March-past contingents from various schools will also participate. A team of anchors for the event has been finalized.
To ensure effective coordination, the ADC constituted multiple committees and directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to arrange ambulances and other medical facilities as per previous years. Officers were instructed to attend the Republic Day function in traditional attire to reflect and promote Kargil’s rich cultural heritage.
Reiterating the importance of teamwork, ADC Imteeaz Kacho urged all departments to work in close coordination and collective spirit to ensure the grand success of the Republic Day celebrations in Kargil.
