JAMMU, Mar 20: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Kashmir has fiercely opposed the University of Jammu’s NEP-2020 revised Political Science postgraduate syllabus, which now includes Muhammad Ali Jinnah alongside Indian icons like Gandhi, Nehru, Patel, and Ambedkar in the “Minorities and the Nation” unit.
ABVP demands immediate removal, arguing the inclusion distorts history, ignores national sentiments, and questions the university’s rationale—dismissing clarifications that it doesn’t imply endorsement. President Lalit Mahajan and State Secretary Sannak Shrivats warned of campus-wide protests if unchanged, urging an expert committee review for academic integrity.
The group insists syllabi must honor India’s ethos, calling for transparent processes, merit-based decisions, and stakeholder input to protect students from divisive narrative
