KATHUA, May 24: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said on Sunday that the abrogation of Article 370 has revived development in Jammu & Kashmir and brought a change of mindset among its people.
Addressing a training camp under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Prashikshan Mahabhiyan–2026 at Lakhanpur, Dr Singh credited the Modi government with restoring a sense of equal citizenship, boosting self‑confidence and creating new aspirations across the region. He said reforms previously blocked by Article 370 — including modernization of recruitment processes — have now been implemented, ending regional discrimination and accelerating governance reforms.
Dr Singh listed recent initiatives and infrastructure projects in the Union Territory, including a proposed Biotech Park in Kathua expected to support about 25 entrepreneurs, three medical colleges in Kathua district, two AIIMS institutions, and plans for an international stadium at Hiranagar. He also highlighted the Aroma Mission’s livelihood benefits and a proposed 3,000 MW power project in Kishtwar.
Recalling the renaming of the Chenani–Nashri Tunnel after Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Dr Singh said the government has completed many projects left unfinished by earlier regimes. He urged people to seize opportunities created by improved governance and work together to realise the vision of a developed India.
