Katra, Mar 14: Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma visited the revered Vaishno Devi temple in Katra, Jammu, days after Team India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 victory.
On Friday, he shared Instagram photos from the shrine, captioned simply: “Jai Mata di.” Dressed in a white kurta-pyjama with a tilak on his forehead, Abhishek stood on the pilgrimage route, hands folded in prayer.
Sharma played a pivotal role in the final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on March 8, smashing 52 runs off 21 balls—including six boundaries and three sixes—for a match-defining start after India batted first. This came after three early tournament ducks.
He holds the top spot in the latest ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, updated Wednesday following India’s 96-run final win. The triumph secured back-to-back titles and made India the first team with three Men’s T20 World Cup trophies.
