NEW DELHI, October 31: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the abrogation of Article 370 had integrated Kashmir with the rest of the country, describing the decision as one of the major achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government.
Shah made the remarks while addressing a gathering ahead of flagging off the ‘Run for Unity’ in New Delhi on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Highlighting key decisions taken during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure, Shah mentioned the abrogation of Article 370, the fight against Naxalism and the implementation of the One Nation, One Tax system.
He also stressed the need to make India drug-free, calling it one of the most significant goals for the country’s youth and future.
Setting December 31, 2029, as the target for achieving a completely drug-free India, Shah said the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ begins with building a ‘Nasha-Mukt Bharat’.
The Home Minister emphasised that India’s linguistic, cultural, traditional and religious diversity is its greatest strength and reflects the spirit of national unity promoted by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Referring to the government’s efforts against Naxalism, Shah said India had moved beyond the shadow of Naxalism on March 31 this year and was now focusing on eliminating the drug menace.
He called for collective efforts from all sections of society to protect the country’s youth from drug abuse and build a stronger, united and prosperous India.
