Srinagar, October 23 : In a major relief to students, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced that candidates who pass their private or bi-annual examinations will now be eligible to appear in the subsequent annual regular examinations.
The decision aims to ensure continuity in students’ academic progress and prevent unnecessary gaps in their studies.
JKBOSE Director Academics Dr Parveen Singh said the initiative has been introduced to address disruptions in students’ educational journeys and enable them to continue their studies without losing an academic year.
According to an official notification issued by the board, students who successfully qualify for the annual private or bi-annual examinations in any calendar year will be permitted to appear in the next annual regular examination.
The board has also directed concerned schools to facilitate the admission of eligible students into the next class in accordance with the revised guidelines.
JKBOSE clarified that the new provision will apply regardless of restrictions imposed under earlier notifications.
The latest directive further expands upon a notification issued in 2017, providing additional clarity regarding the eligibility of private and bi-annual examination pass-outs.
The move is expected to benefit students across Jammu and Kashmir by allowing them to continue their academic pursuits without unnecessary delays.
With this decision, JKBOSE seeks to create a more flexible examination system and ensure that students who clear their examinations through alternative examination sessions receive an opportunity to progress alongside regular candidates.
