New Delhi, October 17: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi on Friday evening after developing a chest infection. His condition is reported to be stable, officials said.
The 98-year-old leader was brought to the hospital at around 7:30 PM and admitted to the pulmonary department. He is currently under observation and receiving treatment from a team of doctors, according to officials familiar with the matter.
Advani was previously admitted to Apollo Hospital in May this year due to age-related health concerns. He remained under medical care for a few days before being discharged.
A prominent figure in Indian politics, Advani served as BJP president for three terms — from 1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998, and 2004 to 2005.
He also served as Union Home Minister from 1998 to 2004 and as Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004 in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Advani remains one of the BJP’s senior-most leaders and has played a significant role in shaping the party’s political journey over several decades.
