New Delhi, October 16: More than 20 Delhi Police personnel visited the residence of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday and served him a notice prohibiting him from holding a protest at Connaught Place, hours before the party’s proposed march.
The CJP has planned a ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5 pm on Friday.
Ahead of the proposed demonstration, security has been tightened across the New Delhi area, with more than 6,000 Delhi Police personnel and 220 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) deployed to prevent any law-and-order situation.
Delhi Police has not granted permission for the march, citing prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which restrict mass gatherings in Connaught Place and adjoining areas.
Police officials have offered to facilitate a select group of protesters to wave the national flag at an alternative location, subject to suitable arrangements.
Meanwhile, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced that Central Park will remain closed to the public on Friday and Saturday for administrative reasons.
The proposed march comes amid heightened tensions between the CJP and Delhi Police over demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Authorities have intensified security arrangements to prevent unauthorised gatherings and maintain public order in the area.
