Jammu, Oct 6: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested a Fireman posted with the Office of the Assistant Director, Fire & Emergency Services, Udhampur, in connection with an alleged bribery case.
The arrested accused has been identified as Nitish Singh Jamwal, Fireman, Office of the Assistant Director, Fire & Emergency Services, Udhampur.
According to the CBI, a case was registered on October 6 based on a complaint alleging that Jamwal had demanded a ₹40,000 bribe from the complainant for processing and issuing a Fire & Emergency Services No Objection Certificate (NOC) for his hotel in Katra.
The CBI said that following negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept ₹15,000.
The agency laid a trap on Tuesday and allegedly caught Jamwal red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹15,000 from the complainant.
The CBI said further investigation in the case is underway.
