Jaipur, Jul 2: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Thursday said Artificial Intelligence will play a defining role in India’s journey towards “Viksit Bharat 2047,” stressing the need for a human-led, ethical and accountable governance model.
Addressing the 29th National Conference on e-Governance in Jaipur, Singh said AI is no longer optional but an essential part of governance, adding that the challenge lies in its responsible use with citizens at the centre of all technological interventions.
He said India’s digital governance model is focused on strengthening transparency, efficiency and public service delivery, not replacing human decision-making. “The real question is not AI alone, but how intelligently we use AI,” he said.
Singh emphasised that future governance must combine AI-driven efficiency with constitutional values, democratic accountability and human judgement to ensure technology strengthens institutions rather than weakening them.
He highlighted several ongoing initiatives, including CPGRAMS for grievance redressal, the AI-powered multilingual chatbot SAMADHAN DIDI developed with BHASHINI, and the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA), as examples of AI-enabled governance improving citizen services.
The minister also underlined the importance of capacity building through Mission Karmayogi and administrative reforms under Special Campaign 5.0, saying these efforts are making the civil service more future-ready.
Calling the Jaipur conference a reflection of India’s “Whole-of-Government” approach, Singh said collaboration between Centre, states, academia and industry is key to shaping next-generation governance systems.
He said governance reforms must look beyond present realities and prepare for rapid technological change, adding that human wisdom and institutional integrity will remain central to achieving the 2047 vision.
The conference concluded with the adoption of the Jaipur Declaration on e-Governance 2026, outlining a roadmap for AI-enabled, data-driven and citizen-centric governance in India.
