LEH: The BJP’s Ladakh unit accorded a warm welcome to Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Corporate Affairs, Harsh Malhotra, on his arrival in the Union Territory as part of the nationwide outreach programme commemorating 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.

The visit formed part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s countrywide campaign aimed at highlighting the Centre’s developmental initiatives and public welfare measures undertaken over the past twelve years. Senior BJP leaders and party workers received the Union Minister and accompanied him during a series of engagements across Leh.

During the visit, Malhotra interacted with religious and community leaders, including His Eminence Thiksey Khampo Rinpoche, His Eminence Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche at Shey, and former Member of Parliament Thupstan Chewang. On the occasion, he presented them with literature detailing the achievements and developmental initiatives of the Modi Government.

Addressing various gatherings, the Union Minister highlighted the pace of development witnessed in Ladakh since becoming a Union Territory, citing progress in infrastructure, road connectivity, tourism, education, healthcare and welfare sectors. He reiterated the Centre’s commitment to accelerating development and improving public services in the region.

As part of his itinerary, Malhotra participated in a plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign at the Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Memorial Park near Leh Airport and attended the Sankalp Convention at The Zen Ladakh as Chief Guest. He also visited the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre and attended the inaugural session of the week-long Yoga Festival being held from June 15 to June 21.

The Union Minister further inspected the NH-3 Bypass project near Solar Colony and reviewed the progress of ongoing infrastructure works. The inspection focused on enhancing connectivity and ensuring the timely execution of projects considered vital for the region’s development.

BJP Ladakh leaders described the visit as an opportunity to showcase the Centre’s development agenda and engage with various sections of society. The Minister was accompanied by BJP Ladakh President Tashi Gyaltsan Khachu, State Vice President Gyal P. Wangyal, Vice President Dorje Angchuk, Chief Spokesperson Nawang Samstan, Mahila Morcha State President Rinchen Dolma, Yuva Morcha President Thinles Chumik, District President Leh Rigzin Chubi and other party functionaries throughout the visit.

The outreach programme is part of a broader national initiative by the BJP to connect with citizens and disseminate information about the government’s policies, achievements and developmental interventions across the country.
