GARKHONE: Several residents of Garkone and Dha villages have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with the induction taking place in the aftermath of celebrations marking Garkhon’s inclusion in the newly constituted Sham district.
The joining programme, held in the presence of senior BJP leaders and local representatives, saw a group of residents formally entering the party fold, signalling the BJP’s continued efforts to strengthen its organisational presence in the Sham region.
Among those inducted into the party were Tsering Angchok and Tashi Kawang from Garkone village, and Gyatso, Singgay and Eshay from Dha village. The event was attended by BJP Ladakh State President Tashi Gyalson Khachu, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, BJP Mahila Morcha State President Rinchen Dolkar, Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh Ghulam Mehdi, Nominated Councillor Regzin Gurmet, party workers and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, BJP State President Tashi Gyalson Khachu said the decision of local residents to join the party reflected increasing public confidence in its developmental agenda and governance initiatives. He asserted that the party remains committed to inclusive development, public welfare and greater participation of people in democratic processes.
Party leaders highlighted the importance of strengthening grassroots engagement and ensuring that local aspirations are reflected in developmental planning. They reiterated their commitment to addressing issues concerning remote villages and enhancing public outreach across the region.
The induction programme was held against the backdrop of public celebrations associated with Garkhon’s inclusion in the newly formed Sham district, an administrative development that has generated considerable public interest in the area.
The event concluded with party leaders welcoming the new members and expressing confidence that their participation would contribute to expanding the party’s outreach and engagement with local communities across the Sham region.
