Leh, May 23 : The Directorate of AYUSH under the National AYUSH Mission, UT Ladakh, conducted a two-day AYUSH Medical Camp at the Nimoo-Bazgo Power Station (NBPS) of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) in Alchi, Leh, aimed at promoting preventive and holistic healthcare services in remote and industrial areas of the region.
Held on May 20 and 21, the camp witnessed participation from NHPC employees, workers and residents of nearby villages, with around 100 patients availing consultation and treatment through Ayurveda and Homeopathy systems of medicine.
Officials said the initiative was organised to strengthen outreach healthcare services and spread awareness regarding AYUSH-based treatment for chronic and lifestyle-related ailments.
During the camp, a large number of patients reported orthopaedic ailments, including osteoarthritis, cervical spondylosis, gout and joint pain. Medical consultations were also provided for gastrointestinal disorders such as indigestion, acidity, constipation and piles.
Patients suffering from hypertension, diabetes, skin diseases, eye allergies and upper respiratory tract infections were also examined and provided medicines, lifestyle counselling and health advice.
The medical team included Dr. Stanzin Noryang, Medical Officer (Homeopathy), Dr. Rubina Jabin, Medical Officer (Ayurveda), and Ms. Rigzin Angmo, MPW, all from SNM Hospital Leh.
Besides treatment and consultation, the team conducted awareness sessions highlighting the role of AYUSH systems in preventive healthcare and management of long-term health conditions.
The initiative was appreciated by the management and staff of NHPC’s Nimoo-Bazgo Power Station, who expressed gratitude to the Directorate of AYUSH for extending healthcare services to employees and local residents in the area.
Officials said the programme reflects the continuing efforts of the Directorate of AYUSH and National AYUSH Mission, UT Ladakh, to improve access to traditional healthcare systems and strengthen medical outreach services across remote regions of the Union Territory.
