CHENNAI, MAY 10: Vijay, founder of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, on Sunday announced a series of major decisions after assuming office as Chief Minister, including 200 units of free electricity for domestic consumers, the creation of a special force for women’s safety, and dedicated anti-drug trafficking units across the state.
In his maiden address at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Vijay said his government marks the beginning of a new era committed to “real secularism and social justice.”
He asserted that there would be no power centres other than him, emphasising that authority would remain firmly centralised under his leadership.
The Chief Minister thanked the Congress, VCK, IUML and Left parties for extending support to form the government. He also expressed gratitude to children, crediting them for TVK’s electoral success, saying they influenced their families to vote for the party.
