Leh, May 7: The Mega Free Medical Camp being organised in connection with the ongoing Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathagata Buddha in Ladakh witnessed sustained public participation on its fifth day at the MIMC Devachan Campus in Leh on Wednesday.
The health outreach programme is being conducted by the Union Territory Administration in collaboration with the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) and SNM Hospital, and will continue till May 14.
The camp, held daily at the Mahabodhi Mahakaruna Charitable Hospital in Devachan, is offering free medical check-ups and distribution of medicines to the general public.
A team of specialist doctors attended patients and provided consultations across multiple disciplines, while diagnostic facilities including tuberculosis (TB) screening, non-communicable disease (NCD) screening, radiology services and laboratory tests remained operational throughout the day.
Officials associated with the initiative said the camp has emerged as an important healthcare support system during the sacred exposition, catering to patients from different parts of the region and ensuring wider access to essential medical services.
The organisers stated that the medical camp is addressing a broad range of healthcare requirements while also easing the burden on patients seeking specialist consultation and diagnostic support during the ongoing religious gathering in Leh.
The Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics has attracted devotees and visitors from across Ladakh and other regions, with parallel welfare initiatives such as the medical camp adding to the public outreach efforts during the event.
