Kargil, May 5 : The three-day training programme for Field Trainers for Census 2027 concluded in Kargil on Monday, with the district administration laying emphasis on accurate data collection, effective field-level training, and wider adoption of digital enumeration tools.
The valedictory session, held at the New Hall of NIC Kargil, was attended by Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shabir Hussain, and Chief Planning Officer Kacho Mohd Hussain, along with officials from the District Statistics and Evaluation Office.
A comprehensive briefing on the training proceedings was delivered by Master Trainer Vijay Kumar, who outlined the modules covered during the programme. These included Census Acts and Rules, house listing operations, questionnaire protocols, and registration procedures, alongside practical orientation on digital platforms such as the HLO application.
Addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the central role of Field Trainers in cascading knowledge to Enumerators and Supervisors, noting that the effectiveness of the census exercise would hinge on the quality of training imparted at this level. He called for consistency and rigour in training delivery to ensure preparedness across all tiers.
Highlighting the importance of credible data, he directed officials to prioritise accuracy and completeness in enumeration. He also urged them to build confidence among enumerators so that households are encouraged to provide reliable information. The Deputy Commissioner further stressed the need to promote the Self-Enumeration process, suggesting outreach to prominent members of the community to facilitate greater public participation.
The programme also incorporated field-based learning, with trainees visiting the Baroo area on the final day to undertake hands-on exercises using the HLO application. The practical component enabled participants to familiarise themselves with real-time data collection methods and address operational challenges.
Officials said the training initiative is expected to enhance coordination and operational efficiency ahead of Census 2027. Participants described the sessions as structured and informative, expressing readiness to assume their roles in the forthcoming enumeration exercise.
