Leh, Mar 28: Emphasising that the younger generation will shape the course of the nation in the coming decades, Bhanu Prabha, Secretary, Higher Education Department, UT Ladakh, on Friday said that informed and responsible participation of youth is essential to realise the vision of a developed India by 2047. She was addressing the State Level Round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 held at the University of Ladakh, Leh Campus.
The programme brought together ten selected students, five each from Leh and Kargil districts, who had qualified through earlier district-level rounds. The participants delivered speeches on the theme “Union Budget 2026: Strengthening the Indian Youth’s Path towards 2047,” presenting their views on economic priorities, national development, and the evolving role of youth in governance.
Bhanu Prabha noted that platforms such as the Youth Parliament promote critical thinking, constructive dialogue, and awareness among students. She stated that such initiatives equip young participants to address contemporary challenges, assume responsibilities in decision-making, and contribute towards building an inclusive and equitable society. She added that today’s youth will emerge as key decision-makers, and their informed actions will collectively shape a progressive nation.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Tajamul Ara, State Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra, My Bharat Ladakh, who highlighted the importance of youth engagement in democratic processes. She observed that such forums provide students with an opportunity to understand public policy and governance at an early stage.
Participants reflected diverse perspectives on fiscal policy and youth empowerment, underlining the importance of structured platforms that encourage informed debate and civic participation across the Union Territory.
