Thang, Mar 25: Residents of Thang village in Nubra Sub-Division brought forward a range of grievances and developmental concerns during an outreach programme titled “Jungs Jabs – Outreach Program for Delivery of Services” organised by the administration in the Zero Border settlement on Tuesday.

The programme served as a direct interface between the administration and the local population, enabling villagers to articulate issues affecting their day-to-day lives while also seeking intervention from the concerned departments. Officials present at the event documented these concerns and assured that necessary follow-up action would be undertaken.

The outreach initiative witnessed the presence of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Tehsildar Disket, Block Medical Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Naib Tehsildar Turtuk, along with officials from various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.

Apart from grievance redressal, the programme focused on enhancing awareness about government welfare schemes and public services. Departmental representatives briefed residents on available entitlements and ongoing initiatives aimed at improving access to healthcare, nutrition, agriculture support, and essential commodities.

On-the-spot services were also extended to eligible beneficiaries, allowing immediate delivery of select services and reducing the need for travel to distant administrative offices.

The programme witnessed active participation from the local community, including Nambardars, who acknowledged the administration’s effort to conduct the outreach in a remote border area. The initiative provided a platform for meaningful engagement, ensuring that governance mechanisms remain accessible to residents in far-flung regions.

The outreach drive forms part of broader efforts to strengthen administrative reach and responsiveness in border villages, where access to public services often remains constrained due to distance and terrain.
