Leh, Mar 06: A two-day training programme for Anganwadi workers commenced at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Leh on Friday, aiming to enhance the capacity of frontline workers engaged in early childhood care and education.

The programme, organised by DIET Leh with support from resource persons of Zampa Foundation Pvt. Ltd., has brought together around 160 Anganwadi workers from different parts of Leh district.

The training sessions are designed to strengthen the participants’ understanding of early childhood development and improve their skills in managing young children. Officials said the initiative seeks to improve the delivery of early childhood education at the grassroots level by equipping Anganwadi workers with updated approaches and practical learning methods.

Addressing the inaugural session, Principal DIET Leh, Mirza Mehdi, welcomed the resource persons from Zampa Foundation and the participating Anganwadi workers. He underscored the responsibility carried by Anganwadi workers in nurturing children during the formative years of development.

Mehdi urged the participants to approach the training with dedication and active involvement, noting that the early years of a child’s life shape future learning and overall growth.

Head of Department at DIET Leh, Tsering Yangdol, also addressed the gathering and spoke about the role of Anganwadi workers in guiding and shaping young minds. She highlighted the importance of the foundational stage of education and stressed the need to align early childhood education practices with the framework of the National Education Policy 2020.

The programme will continue over the next two days with interactive sessions and practical modules aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of Anganwadi services across the district.
