Reasi, Dec 28: With a large influx of pilgrims expected on December 31 and during the New Year period, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Paramvir Singh (JKPS), on Sunday chaired a high-level security review meeting at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan to assess preparedness and safety arrangements.

The meeting focused on maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of devotees, and facilitating smooth movement along the pilgrimage track. Officers and security agencies were directed to remain alert and proactive in view of the expected rush.

Addressing the meeting, SSP Reasi said, “The safety of pilgrims is our top priority. All officers and agencies must remain vigilant, ensure proper crowd regulation, and respond promptly to any situation so that devotees can undertake the pilgrimage without inconvenience.”

Special focus was laid on crowd control at vulnerable and high-density points around the Bhawan to avoid congestion and prevent any untoward incident. The SSP stressed the need for strict monitoring and disciplined deployment on the ground.

He also directed for optimum use of digital crowd management applications and round-the-clock monitoring through the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). “The ICCC must function in full readiness to enable real-time coordination and quick decision-making,” he added.

All departments were instructed to maintain close coordination and remain prepared to handle emergencies. The SSP underlined that swift response and clear communication would be essential during the peak pilgrimage days.

The meeting was attended by senior police officers, representatives of central armed forces, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, civil administration, fire and emergency services, and other security agencies. All participating departments assured full cooperation to ensure a safe, orderly, and hassle-free pilgrimage during the New Year period.
