Lauds Troops’ readiness in high altitude Demchok-Chumar sector

Leh: Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Fire and Fury Corps, visited the remote border areas of Demchok and Chumar Sector in Eastern Ladakh to assess the preparedness and morale of troops deployed in these high-altitude forward locations.

During his visit, the GOC interacted with officers and soldiers stationed in some of the most challenging terrains along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

He was briefed on the prevailing security situation, operational readiness, and logistical support mechanisms sustaining troops in extreme weather and difficult terrain conditions.

Lt Gen Bhalla commended the troops for their high standards of vigilance, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to duty despite facing sub-zero temperatures and rugged topography.

He appreciated the seamless coordination among various arms and services operating in the sector to ensure mission readiness and effective border management.

Emphasizing the need to stay ahead of evolving challenges, the Corps Commander encouraged the personnel to integrate modern technologies, adopt innovative tactical approaches, and focus on realistic, mission-oriented training to enhance combat effectiveness.

He reiterated that sustained adaptation and modernization are key to maintaining a decisive operational edge in the high-altitude environment of Ladakh.

Fire and Fury Corps said in a message on X, “Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, GOC Fire and Fury Corps visited remote border areas of Demchok and Chumar Sector in Ladakh to review the operational preparedness. He appreciated the high levels of readiness and vigilance maintained by units, despite adverse weather conditions.”

The message added that the GOC encouraged troops to continue adopting modern technologies, innovative tactics and enhanced training methodologies to further strengthen national security.

The Fire and Fury Corps—responsible for safeguarding India’s northernmost frontiers—continues to play a critical role in ensuring the territorial integrity and security of the nation’s borders in the Ladakh region.

The visit underlines the Army’s commitment to constant situational awareness, operational preparedness, and troop welfare in some of the most demanding operational areas in the world.
