Leh, Sept 09: Yet again reiterating UT Administration’s commitment to further strengthening the healthcare sector with improved infrastructure, modern facilities, and better outreach to remote areas, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, Tuesday visited Sonam Nurboo Memorial (SNM) Hospital.

The LG inspected healthcare facilities being provided to patients along with ongoing project works.

The Lt Governor was accompanied by Director, Health Services, Dr Tashi Thinles and Medical Superintendent, SNM Hospital, Dr Rinchen Chosdon.

The Lt Governor inspected the Pradhan Mantri – Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) counter, which provides cashless cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per eligible family annually for listed secondary and tertiary care conditions.

He also visited the Elders’ Help Desk, Registration Desk, Amchi Section, Jan Aushadi Kendra (where medicines are provided at affordable rates), Palliative Care Ward, and the Hyperbaric Chamber ward.

The Director, Health Services informed that around 1,400 patients visit the Outpatient Department (OPD) daily for consultations, treatments, diagnostic tests, and follow-up care.

He further said patients are being encouraged to avail the ABHA-based Scan and Share services, which allow them to skip physical queues and receive instant tokens. Updates on ongoing project works at the hospital were also shared with the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor asked the hospital administration to ensure patient-friendly services and strengthen digital health facilities for ease of access.

He also directed officials to expedite pending project works and ensure timely completion to enhance healthcare delivery.
