Jammu, Jul 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Crime Branch has registered three separate First Information Reports (FIRs) against individuals accused of duping multiple job aspirants of nearly ₹1.50 crore through fraudulent job promises. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Branch Jammu, Benam Tosh, the action follows separate complaints lodged by victims who were lured into paying large sums in return for false job assurances.
In the first case, Ajay Kumar, a resident of Sungli village in Doda district, is accused of impersonating a Secretariat official to mislead job seekers. On the basis of two written complaints submitted by six victims, Kumar allegedly defrauded them of ₹1.06 crore under the pretext of offering government jobs. Described as a habitual fraudster, Kumar’s criminal profile is under scrutiny as more complaints continue to emerge.
In another case, a suspended government school teacher, Jameel Anjum from Jammu, was booked following a joint complaint by nine individuals from Lower Gadi Garh. Anjum, currently in judicial custody in a separate case, allegedly duped them of ₹39 lakh while falsely promising employment in the government sector. This marks the eleventh FIR filed against Anjum, who is known to have posed as a personal assistant to high-ranking officials to gain trust and exploit vulnerable youth.
The third FIR was registered against Iftikhar Ali and Nazir Ali, both residents of Chanderkote in Ramban district. The case was based on a written complaint from their neighbour, Mohd Taki, who claimed he was deceived with a fake promise of a government job.
SSP Benam Tosh cautioned the public, especially job aspirants and their families, to remain vigilant and not fall prey to such fraudulent schemes. He affirmed that the Crime Branch is committed to taking the strictest legal action against individuals running job scams and preying on the aspirations of young people.
