Party workers are of the opinion that only an organisational personal should be considered for the mandate
Jammu 28 :- Amid crisis in BJP over selection of candidates, the party’s traditional cadre is aghast over the reports that some parachute dropped members of the business community are being considered for the prestigious Bahu seat.
The Bhartiya Janta Party, hoping to form first government after abrogation of Article 370, is currently battling massive resentment within the organisation over ticket distribution. People are still in disbelief that a disciplined party like BJP could oppose a list approved by the Prime Minister personally the previous night.
Even as the BJP has reissued the withdrawn list with a minor change, but two key constituencies -Bahu in Jammu and Nowshera -evade consensus. Nowshera in Rajouri district was earlier represented by Ravinder Raina, BJP’s current and longest serving state president,
while Bahu, earlier known as Gandhi Nagar, was represented by former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta.
The core BJP workers are furious over the reports that the party may be considering a laterally entered businessman for the Bahu constituency. Sources said that the panel for Bahu includes many parachute dropped candidates including Arun Gupta, the current president of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“Gupta is a businessman, for him self is first, which is against the philosophy of the party”,
said an office bearer who further alleged, “Gupta called Jammu bandh in collaboration with Congress to embarrass the BJP leadership”. Another party worker said, “Gupta carefully organised the shutdown against government in September 2021 to coincide with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden US visit after abrogation of Article 370”.
This could not be a mere coincidence, said the party worker.
Senior party leaders, sources said, had to manage the narrative in Washington as Arun Gupta ratcheted up a manufactured anger against the BJP.
