Ramban Mar 10 : The final match of the 87th CRPF Anniversary Volleyball Tournament, organized under the aegis of Jammu Sector CRPF, was held with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship at Tac Hq 84 Bn CRPF Chanderkote Ramban J&K on 10 Mar 2026.
The closing function was graced by Smt N Gayabati Devi, First Lady, as the Chief Guest, in the presence of Sh N Ranbir Singh Commandant, Sh Vikram Singh Second in Command, Asstt Cdt Sh Roop Ram Meena, Sh Deepak Shukla, Sh Vikas Kumar, Sh Shree Ram Meena, families and personnel of 84 Bn CRPF, players and local youths.
The final match witnessed a thrilling contest between HMB Parnote and Chanderkote Defenders, drawing a large gathering of sports lovers, and youths. HMB Parnote emerged as the champion by defeating Chanderkote Defenders (25 – 16, 23 – 25, 25 – 17 and 26 – 24).
During the function, Sh N Ranbir Singh Commandant spoke about glorious history of CRPF and its paramount contribution in nation building. The CRPF was presented with its color by the then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhai Patel on 19 Mar 1950 and the Force is celebrating its 87th Anniversary. In the run up to the Anniversary, the Tourney is organized to promote sports in the region by providing a platform to the youths to showcase their talents and skills. He appealed to the youths to pursue sports as a tool for physical and mental fitness, discipline, team spirit and a healthy lifestyle. He also assured to continue organizing such events in the future to promote talent and strengthen bond between CRPF and local populace.
Trophies, Medals, Volleyballs and Nets were distributed to the Winner and Runner-up teams. Cultural programs were also organized. During the function, Sh Sandeep Singh, a National level Boxing Player, and now a 03 Star Referee and representatives of various Media Houses were felicitated by presenting mementos.
