World Environment Day is celebrated on 05th of Jun every year, all over the world. 84 Bn CRPF, deployed in Ramban for security of NH 44, observed the day by organizing a Painting Competition for school children and a Mass Tree Plantation Drive at different locations in Chanderkote and Batote Ramban J&K. The painting competition was participated by nearly 50 students of P M Shri Govt High School Chanderkote and Girls Primary School Chanderkote participated. The winners were presented with prizes and certificates. During the drive, more than 500 personnel and families of 84 Bn CRPF, Social Forestry Department, school teachers and students planted nearly 1500 trees along the hill slopes, river banks, road sides, camp areas of different locations in Chanderkote and Batote of Ramban District.
The chief guest of the function was Smt N Gayabati Devi, the first lady of the Battalion and also attended by other ladies, Sh N Ranbir Singh Commandant, Sh Vikram Singh Second in Command, Asstt Cdts Sh Inderjeet Singh, Sh Shree Ram Meena, Sh Jugal Kishor Gupta DFO Ramban, Sh Jabaid Mir Range Officer, School Teachers, Students and personnel of 84 Bn CRPF.
Speaking during the drive, Sh N Ranbir Singh Commandant stated that at this juncture the world is confronting unprecedented climate change. Resultantly, we are experiencing extreme climatic conditions, floods, droughts, erratic rains, etc. Thus, the planet earth is sending distress signals to the mankind. Therefore, people, communities, institutions, and governments should collectively take proactive steps to create awareness on environmental issues, protect it by adopting sustainable solutions and environmentally responsible lifestyles. Tree plantation is the simplest way to protect the environment and planet earth.
