KATRA DEC 07 : A 75-year-old woman from Anantnag, paralysed by excruciating neck pain and arm weakness, has miraculously regained her ability to walk following a daring cervical spine surgery at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital.
Her daily life had ground to a halt for months, with several hospitals refusing the high-risk operation due to her age and paralysis fears. Desperate, her family sought a last resort in Katra, where scans confirmed critical spinal cord compression as the culprit.
Led by Dr. Khushwant Singh, Consultant Spine Surgeon, and his neurosurgical team, the procedure involved precise decompression and stabilisation—tailored for her fragile condition. Post-surgery, she progressed steadily, astonishingly arriving at her follow-up unaided, pain-free, and mobile.
