NEW DELHI, JAN 17: At least 30 spectacular tableaux will grace Kartavya Path during the Republic Day Parade on January 26, offering a vibrant showcase of India’s diverse cultural heritage, freedom struggle legacy, and strides toward self-reliance and prosperity.
The elaborate displays will revolve around the powerful themes of “‘Svatantrata Ka Mantr – Vande Maataram’” (The mantra of freedom – Vande Mataram) and “‘Samrddhi Ka Mantr – Aatmanirbhar Bhaarat’” (The mantra of prosperity – Atmanirbhar Bharat), commemorating the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song “Vande Mataram.” This thematic focus will weave together India’s historic journey toward independence with its contemporary vision for economic empowerment and innovation.
Of the total 30 tableaux, 17 will represent various States and Union Territories, vividly highlighting their unique cultural identities, folk traditions, and developmental achievements. Assam’s entry will spotlight the renowned Ashirakandi craft village, renowned for its artisanal heritage. Gujarat and Chhattisgarh will interpret the “Vande Mataram” theme through their distinct regional narratives, while Maharashtra will celebrate Ganeshotsav as a powerful emblem of Atmanirbharta (self-reliance). West Bengal’s tableau will honor Bengal’s pivotal role in India’s freedom movement.
Several states will blend timeless traditions with cutting-edge innovation. Odisha’s “Soil to Silicon” display will trace the state’s transformation from agrarian roots to a technology hub. Tamil Nadu will position India as an emerging global leader in electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, and Kerala will showcase its pioneering Water Metro project alongside 100% digital governance initiatives. Nagaland will highlight the world-famous Hornbill Festival as a beacon of cultural preservation, tourism growth, and self-reliance.
The remaining 13 tableaux from Central Ministries, Departments, and Services will equally captivate spectators. The Ministry of Culture’s centerpiece, titled “Vande Mataram: The Soul-Cry of a Nation,” will anchor the national theme, evoking the emotional resonance of India’s independence struggle. The Department of Military Affairs will present a striking Tri-Services tableau on Operation Sindoor, symbolizing seamless military jointness and operational excellence. Adding a touch of natural beauty, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will feature a stunning floral tableau commemorating 150 years of “Vande Mataram.”
Complementing the tableaux, around 2,500 artists will deliver mesmerizing cultural performances, transforming the Republic Day Parade 2026 into a grand celebration of India’s unity in diversity, historical pride, and forward-looking progress.
In a special highlight this year, President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will serve as Chief Guests, adding an international dimension to the festivities.
