Jammu, May 24 : The Jammu division of Northern Railway held a Rozgar Mela on Saturday, where 229 selected candidates from Jammu and Kashmir were handed appointment letters for various government positions, officials said.
The event formed part of the Centre’s large-scale employment drive to induct youth into government services through transparent, merit-based recruitment. Across the country, more than 5,100 candidates were selected in this recruitment round, including the 229 from Jammu and Kashmir.
Divisional Railway Manager, Jammu, Vivek Kumar, and Railway Recruitment Board Jammu Chairman Sanjay Tyagi distributed the appointment letters at the Convention Centre. The programme began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing newly recruited candidates nationwide via video conference. In his address, Modi said the occasion underscored a renewed commitment to empowering youth and building a developed India, while stressing transparency in government recruitment.
Appointment letters were issued for posts in banks, the armed forces, medical services, railways and various Jammu and Kashmir administration departments. Addressing attendees, Kumar praised the talent of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth and said initiatives like the Rozgar Mela create opportunities for them to contribute to nation-building. He added that Indian Railways is committed to generating employment and supporting public welfare in the region.
